What Changed in Complementary r5.9.3

Notes for r5.9.3 and the nearby r5.9 line, so you can decide whether to update Unbound or Reimagined on Minecraft Java.

Full studio changelogs live on complementary.dev/changelogs. Keep a rollback ZIP from the versions page when you do update.

r5.9.3 (r5.9.3), 15 Sep 2026

Current stable line for Unbound and Reimagined on this site. Prefer r5.9.3 for new installs unless a modpack pins an older ZIP.

r5.9.3 sits on the r5.9 polish wave: Minecraft 26.2 feature support (including Sulfur Caves fog), better frame rates, a tweaked daytime sky, full volumetric reflections in the End, more shader-setting control, rebalanced higher performance profiles, and a large set of fixes.

r5.9.2, 14 Sep 2026

Immediate predecessor to r5.9.3 on the same r5.9 line. Keep it only for rollback or modpack pins.

After moving from r5.9.2 to r5.9.3, re-check daytime sky, End reflections, and any custom High/Ultra profile you saved earlier in the week.

r5.9, 2 Sep 2026

Major r5.9 baseline focused on polishing the general experience rather than a single gimmick effect.

Highlights called out by the creator release notes: improved FPS, tweaked daytime sky, complete volumetric reflection support for the End, more control in shader settings, rebalanced higher performance profiles, plus many tweaks and bug fixes. Minecraft 26.2 content such as Sulfur Caves special fog is part of this line.

Archive ZIPs for r5.9 and r5.9.2 remain on each category download page and on the versions catalog.

Complementary Installer 1.4.0, 10 Jul 2026

Installer 1.4.0 requires an explicit Unbound or Reimagined style choice (no silent default). It merges newer Iris Installer safeguards, including clearer errors when the Minecraft Launcher is open or when the JAR is mistakenly dropped in the mods folder.

Older helper 1.3.0 remains in the installer archive if you need it.

After you update

  1. Screenshot non-default shader settings or write them down.
  2. Download the new ZIP beside the old one instead of overwriting immediately.
  3. Test a daytime biome, rain, a cave, and the Nether before trusting a survival save.
  4. Only remove the old ZIP after a clean session.

Need the full ritual? Use the update safely guide.

Healthy update habit

Download the new build beside the old one, test in a copy world, then switch. The safe update guide spells out the ritual.

Grab files from Unbound or Reimagined when you are ready.
